Outrights
Outrights refer to bets placed on the overall outcome of a competition, rather than on a single fixture or event.
There are two types of outright markets:
Long-term Outrights – Example: Who will win the Bundesliga 2022/2023?
Short-term Outrights – Example: Who will be the Top Tournament Bowler in IPL 2023?
Outrights (also known as Futures) are a flexible market type that applies to events where multiple competitors are contesting for the same title or result. The event doesn’t need to be a single match.
Example: Who will win the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship this year? This type of market presents a list of participants, each with their own odds of winning.
Types of Outrights
We offer both short-term and long-term outrights and there are 6 different types of Outrights.
Championship Outrights
Championship outrights are those that offer the long-term winner markets for future tournaments, which consist of several rounds/matchdays.
Example:
Soccer England Premier League Winner, Formula 1 Driver Championship.
Top 3 Outrights
Top 3 outrights offer short term as well as long term market for bets on a competitor to finish in the top or bottom three in a competition.
Example:
Soccer England Premier League Relegation, Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix Race - Top 3
Top X Outrights
Top X outrights offer short term as well as long term market for bets on a competitor to finish in the offered range of final positions (2, 4, 5, 10, 20) in a competition.
Example:
Soccer Germany Bundesliga Top 6, Golf The Masters Top 10
Short Term Outright
Short term outrights offer bets on the winner of a short-term competition. Usually a single event competition such as a Formula 1 race or Cycling stage.
Example:
Cycling Vuelta A San Juan - Stage 2 - Winner
3Balls Outrights
3 Balls outrights offer official "tee" between 3 players to finish the daily court with the lowest number of strokes, for Golf only.
Example:
Golf The Open Championship - McIlroy vs Rahm vs Speith
Head2Heads (H2H) Outrights
H2H outrights offer fictional fixture between 2 competitors to finish on the better position within the offered tournament.
Example:
Formula 1 British Grand Prix - Hamilton vs Verstappen
How to configure Outrights
There are 2 levels at which the outrights can be configured.
At Global level - Here the user can Suspend and Publish events and outright markets, and configure the odds key. Outright markets that are suspended will have a red indication next to them, while active outright markets will have a green one.
Direct link: https://ctrl.betradar.com/configuration/competitions/pre%3Aroot%3A0
Tournament / Stage level - Here the user can set a specific ladder for the Outrights, and so ensuring that the odds that will be sent in the Unified Feed will only be values found in that ladder.
BR Key
As the name suggests, this odds key provided by Betradar. Betradar key would be one calculated by us, which would progressively adjust depending on the number of selections available each time, and be normally somewhat close to the average margin used in the global market.
This key may change during the lifetime of an Outright to offer the most accurate odds.
Key Per Outcome
The odds key for an Outright will automatically adjust based on the number of available outcomes.
As a tournament moves forward, some teams/competitors may get eliminated and the user might want their key to adjust accordingly, becoming lower as the outcomes become less. The system asks for a Min and Max value that they key will not exceed, and it also asks the increment it should move based on the number of outcomes.
Example:
For an Outright, the user has set Min key to 110, so that is the base key, and the Key Increment Per Outcome at 1 so the key will drop 1 every time an outright is removed. So if we have 26 outcomes and the key's increment is set to 1, so my key is at 136.
26 outcomes: 110 (the min) + (number of outcomes*increment) = 136
16 outcomes: 110+(16*1) = 126.
4 outcomes: 110+(4*1) = 114.
Fixed Key
The fixed key is simple, it would be exactly the value that you enter which will be kept constant throughout the whole championship unless you change it. The Fixed Key requires you (our customers) to understand the nature and competitiveness of the Outright and how many Outcomes are available.
Specify a fixed odds key of choice which will not change during the lifetime of an Outright unless changed by the user.
Don't Offer
This means the Outright will not be offered.
Outright UOF Translations
It is now possible for customers to add their own Outright translations in Production using this link. You can translate Outright names and Outcome names in Ctrl.
Outright Name - Entity Type 'sr:monitoring_winner_event' can be used to search for outright names in the users desired language and desired sport. Once the outright name is selected, the user can enter their own custom translation in the DEFAULT field.
Outcome Name - Entity Type 'sr:competitor' can be used to search for outcome names in the users desired language and desired sport. Once the outcome name is selected, the user can enter their own custom translation in the DEFAULT field.
Please note that once a custom translation has been added, it may take ~1 hour for the translation to update in the API response.
Outrights Handling
Outrights odds updates are sent as normal odds_change messages. One outright is seen as one market for an event and the event can be a match, a race or tournament.
This means the event_id is one of the following: sr:sport_event:1234, sr:race_event:1234, sr:tournament:1234, sr:race_tournament:1234 and sr:simple_tournament:1234, sr:h2h_tournament:1234, sr:season:1234.
The first two can be looked up using sport_events/(id)/fixture.xml
. All the remaining ones are looked up using tournaments/(id)/info.xml
.
Some outrights the Betradar system provides in structured format: this means that the market has a fixed name and that the outcomes are well-defined entities.
Other outrights are free-text outrights, these outrights have a free-text name and free-text outcomes and it is not so easy to determine if the outcome in one outright is the same as an outright in another outright. It is Betradar’s intent to provide more and more outrights in the structured format.
Outrights with free-text market name and outcome descriptions are handled by a system called variant descriptions
