# Introduction

The DataCore API is a REST based API. This means it makes use of the followng HTTP primitives:

* GET - To retrieve data
* POST - To add a record
* PUT - To update a record
* DELETE - To delete a record

All data sent and received as well as error messages is in the JSON format.
